* Ten including two Police Inspectors injured in clash, drunken PS member arrested

Apr 15, Colombo: Ten individuals including two police inspectors have been injure in Kantale during a clash between two parties and the Kantale Police have arrested a member of Kantale Pradeshiya Sabha member and another individual for instigating the clash.

The Office of the Police Media Spokesman said a group of intoxicated men has, both physically and with bottles, attacked a group of people bathing in the Kantale Wewa yesterday afternoon.

The group subjected to the attack were relatives of two Inspectors of Police who were on duty at the Kantale police station.

The police officers who were at home had arrived at the scene after learning of the clash and the drunken group had also assaulted the two officers.

Reportedly the drunken men have sexually abused women. One suspect is a member of Kantale Pradeshiya Sabha.

The 42 year old Kantale Pradeshiya Sabha member and a 24 year old suspect have been arrested. The younger suspect has sustained injuries during the clash and is receiving treatment at the Kantale Hospital under police protection
