* Prime Minister pays last respects to STF officer who committed suicide

Apr 07, Colombo: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today paid his last respects to the remains of the police Special Task Force (STF) officer who committed suicide while engaged in security duties at the Prime Minister's official residence, Temple Trees.

The 30-year-old STF constable named Godadeniyalage Dilruksha Samarasinghe committed suicide with his officially issued weapon at the security checkpoint at the main entrance to the Temple Trees.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe visited the late officer's house, where his remains lie, in Algama, Warakapola and expressed his condolences to the mother and other relatives of the officer.

Meanwhile, observing that the only road to access the village is in a dilapidated condition, the Premier also instructed the UNP Dedigama organizer Champika Premadasa and the relevant officials to immediately repair the road and took measures to allocate Rs. 20 million for the road reconstruction.
