* Media reports saying IGP is asked to resign are false - government

Sept 20, Colombo: Deputy Minister of Law and Order, Nalin Bandara in Parliament today (20) said that the President or the Prime Minister had not ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to resign and there is no truth to the rumor spreading to that effect.

Director General of Government Information, Sudarshana Gunawardena says that the rumors that IGP Pujith Jayasundera has been asked by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to resign from the post within two weeks are false.

The Director General of Government Information said the Prime Ministerís Office has also refuted the media reports which states that Prime Minister has asked the IGP Pujith Jayasundera to resign from office.
