Sept 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to present him a copy of the investigation report on allegations levelled against Director of Terrorist Investigation Division (TID), DIG Nalaka Silva.
Investigations are continuing into the alleged attempt to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The President said yesterday that investigations into the allegation against Director of the Terrorist Investigation Division DIG Nalaka Silva, for planning to assassinate him and Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse would be handed over to the CID. The President said this yesterday when he met the Heads of Media Institutions.
He said the Special Investigation Unit has already launched an investigation in to the incident.
Prime Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the IGP to submit a report to him about the allegations.
Meanwhile, Minister Duminda Dissanayake said that media outlets, partial toward the Joint Opposition are making strong efforts to indicate a conflict between the President and the Prime Minister.
Expressing his views Minister Sarath Amunugama also said investigations are continuing in to the alleged assassination plan.
