* CID files case against former minister Ravi Karunanayake for providing false information

Sept 14, Colombo: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has filed a case with the Colombo Magistrate’s Court against former Finance Minister MP Ravi Karunanayake.

The case was filed against the MP for allegedly providing false evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate the Issuance of Treasury Bonds.

The Criminal Investigation Department told the court that an investigation has been launched and requested the court to grant permission to obtain reports from the relevant phone companies to obtain reports on several telephone numbers identified between January 1, 2015 and August 02, 2017.
