* Bangladesh navy ship 'Somudra Joy' arrives in Sri Lanka's Port of Colombo

Sept 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy, in accordance with naval traditions, welcomed a Bangladesh naval ship arrived at the Port of Colombo today.

The Bangladesh naval ship "Somudra Joy" arrived at the Port of Colombo on Wednesday 12th September on a five-day goodwill visit, the Navy said.

A host of officials from the Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo was also present to welcome the ship.

The Commanding Officer of BNS Somudra Joy, Captain M Moniruzzaman and the Bangladesh delegation met the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Western Naval Command Headquarters and held a cordial discussion.

The Commander Western Naval Area also made an inspection tour onboard the Bangladeshi vessel as well.

The vessel that is 115.2m long and 13.1m wide, is manned by a crew of 278.

During her five-day official visit, BNS Somudra Joy's crew members are scheduled to take part in several friendly sporting events and other programs organized by the Sri Lanka Navy.

The ship is due to set sail for her next port of call from the Colombo harbor on 16th of this month.
