Sept 07, Washington, DC: The United States Senate has confirmed President Donald Trump's nominee Alaina B. Teplitz as Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

Teplitz, a member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, has been confirmed by the Senate to be Ambassador to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and to serve concurrently as Ambassador to the Republic of Maldives.

Teplitz currently serves as the Ambassador to Nepal. She has been posted to Bangladesh and Afghanistan previously and also to the South and Central Asia Bureau.

Teplitz will take over the post left vacant by Ambassador Atul Keshap, who left Sri Lanka last month after three years of service.

The U.S. Embassy in Colombo in a Twitter post congratulated Ambassador Teplitz on her confirmation by the U.S. Senate as the next U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives and said the embassy "looks forward to welcoming her very soon."
