* Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi calls on Sri Lankan PM in New Delhi

Oct 19: New Delhi: Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, called on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is in New Delhi on an official visit.

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Shri Anand Sharma, were also present in the meeting.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, who arrived in India on Thursday on a three-day official visit, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, October 20, at Hyderabad House.

The two Prime Ministers are likely to review the status of the India-assisted housing projects in Jaffna and deliberate on the Tamil issue, the reconciliation process and devolution of powers in Tamil-dominated areas.

On Saturday, the Premier is also scheduled to meet Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Ministers Sagala Ratnayake, Malik Samarawickrema and Arjuna Ranatunga are accompanying Prime Minister Wickremesinghe.
