* Government ready to face any adverse weather

Oct 08, Colombo: Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardena said that arrangements have been made to face any sudden disaster in the Divisional and at District Secretariat levels.

The Minister further stated that the District and Divisional Secretaries have been instructed to ensure more security and provide relief to the people as disaster situations have arisen throughout the country due to heavy rains.

The Ministries of Disaster Management and Home Affairs are working together to rescue the people who are stranded due to floods and rain water that is not draining.

The Minister further said that the affected people are being provided with cooked food, drinking water, dry rations and medicines by the Divisional Secretariats.
