Nov 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka parliament will convene today for the fourth time after President Maithripala Sirisena prorogued the parliament on 27th October.
The parliament will meet at 1.00 pm today under the auspices of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
A party leaders meeting will be held at the parliamentary complex today at noon.
At the all party meeting held yesterday by the President all parties agreed to take a suitable decision at the party leaders' meeting today on how to proceed in the parliament. They have agreed to conduct parliamentary proceedings peacefully without clashes.
It is expected to take a third vote on the no confidence motion against the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and his government when the parliament conveners today.
Pandemonium reigned for a third day when the parliament met on last Friday (16) as lawmakers supporting Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa threw books, chili powder and chairs at the Speaker and the police officers guarding him in an attempt to disrupt the second no-confidence vote.
It has been reported that today's Parliamentary session will not be opened for public and diplomats. Only media personnel will be allowed into the gallery during the session.
