* Suspect arrested while transporting over Rs. 25 million worth heroin

Nov 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested a suspect while he was transporting a stock of heroin worth over Rs. 25 million in a luxury car.

The Wellawatte Anti-Corruption Unit of police acting on information received, has arrested him last night near the Paradise Grounds in Kotahena.

During the arrest police found 2.79 kilograms of heroin packed in two bags in the possession of the 33-year-old suspect.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the suspect is a resident of Wadiwelwatta, Grandpass in Colombo 14 and he, was arrested following a tip-off while he was transporting the heroin in a luxury car.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court today. The police also took into custody a car used for the transport of heroin.

The suspect would be detained for seven days for further questioning after produced in the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court.
