Wed, Nov 7, 2018, 09:17 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 07, Colombo: Following on the resounding success of the Sri Lanka's first ever IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo triathlon, organizers Pro-Am Serendib and Hayleys Tours announced that Colombo's most prestigious city hotels were once again signing on as Partner Hotels for the triathlon that is set to take place early next year.

As was the case with the inaugural event, the Shangri La Colombo once again returns as Host Hotel to IRONMAN 70.3 while The Kingsbury, Hilton Colombo, Taj Samudra, Cinnamon Lakeside, Cinnamon Grand, Mövenpick Colombo, Galle Face Hotel, Hotel Galadari, Fairway Colombo, Ramada Colombo, Ozo Colombo, Steuart by Citrus and Colombo City Hotel will serve as Partner Hotels to the event.

"On behalf of the organizers, we'd like to officially extend a warm welcome all of our prestigious Partner Hotels aboard for IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo 2019. Given the outstanding success of our inaugural event last February, we are expecting an even stronger turnout from local and international athletes. We are all very excited to keep this legendary event returning to our shores, and our Partner Hotels are absolutely vital to helping us replicate and build on the success of the inaugural 2018 event," Hayleys Tours Director Amith Sumanapala said.

The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo took place in February 2018, attracting over 880 participants and over 2,300 friends and families from 63 countries, and foreign exchange contributions close to USD 3 million.

As in its first year, the event will be jointly organized by Pro-Am Serendib together with official travel partner, Hayleys Tours and public sector organizations including the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Tourism.

IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo 2019 will take place on Sunday, 24 February 2019 in the heart of the capital city of Sri Lanka.

The 1.9 km ocean swim will be held at the historic Galle Face Green, followed by a well paved, flat and fast 90 km bike course that will take participants through the Port of Colombo, one of the most historic harbors in the world that stood as the center of ancient trading routes connecting the east and the west.

The final spectator-friendly 21.1km run passes some of Colombo's landmarks and the Port of Colombo.

IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo will also offer a team relay, a great opportunity for first timers to get a taste for an IRONMAN 70.3 race.
