* UNP to hold another protest on the 8th
Tue, Nov 6, 2018, 07:32 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 06, Colombo: The United National Party has decided to launch a massive protest adjacent to the Parliament Roundabout on the 8th of November to demand the President to convene Parliament promptly.

Speaking to NewsRadio, UNP Parliamentarian JC Alawathuwala said the President's move sacking the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and proroguing the parliament is unconstitutional and against the democratic values.

He said the President has disregarded the public mandate given to him by 6.2 million people voting against Mahinda Rajapaksa at the 2015 Parliamentary Election.

MP Alawathuwala said the President's action is an absolute betrayal of the public's mandate and therefore requested the public to rally against the undemocratic and illegal move.
