* Sri Lanka Navy arrests three people smuggling 7 kg of gold biscuits

Nov 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy personnel have arrested two persons while smuggling 7 kilograms of gold biscuits in the coastal area of the northwest.

A group of naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya and naval personnel attached to Cedric boats and inshore patrol craft (IPC) in the North Western Naval Command arrested the three persons while smuggling 7kg of gold at the Ippanthivu and Kimbulbokka sea area yesterday.

The dinghy used for the smuggling attempt was also taken into naval custody.

Apprehended suspects have been identified as residents of Kalpitiya.

The apprehended suspects, gold, dinghy and other items were handed over to the Customs Preventive Office at Port of Colombo for onward action.
