Nov 04, Colombo: Anther United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian has been given a ministerial portfolio in the new government led by the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA).

UNP parliamentarian from Puttalam district R.D. Ashoka Priyantha was sworn in Deputy Minister of Cultural and Internal Affairs, and Regional Development (Wayamba) before the President at the Presidential Secretariat today.

So far five UNP parliamentarians and a Tamil National Alliance MP have crossed over to the UPFA government accepting ministerial portfolios.

UNP MP Palitha Range Bandara has revealed that he was also offered a cabinet minister position if he supported the UPFA government led by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, UNP national list MP Athuraliye Rathana Thero said he will support the UPFA government as an independent MP.
