Nov 04, Colombo: United National Front national list parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thero said he approves the decision taken by President Maithripala Sirisena to appoint a new prime minister considering the situation prevailed in the country and he will support the new government as an independent parliamentarian in the opposition.

The Thero also requested the President to use his powers and immediately dissolve the parliament.

Addressing the media in Rajagiriya today, Ven. Rathana Thero said that the national government did not bring the change the people expected and because of that, the country's economy and many other sections went down.

He said the previous government's role in selling national resources could not be approved at all.

The Thera added that the President's decision to sack Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and appoint former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was constitutional and legitimate.
