Sat, Nov 3, 2018, 07:52 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 03, Colombo: The United States Embassy in Colombo today issued a security alert cautioning U.S. citizens of the probability of nationwide protests on November 4, 2018.

The Embassy said a large protest is scheduled for 2:00 pm on November 5, 2018, near Parliament in Colombo.

U. S. citizens are reminded of an increased likelihood of civil unrest, strikes, and demonstrations stemming from continuing political uncertainty.

The Embassy reminded U.S. citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. "You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations," it cautioned.

The citizens are advised to avoid the areas of the demonstrations and exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.

They are instructed to monitor local media for updates, be aware of their surroundings and keep a low profile.
