* NPC halts removal of OIC of the Prime Minister's Security Division

Nov 02, Colombo: The National Police Commission has ordered to void a special order issued by the Inspector General of Police to assign the Officer in Charge of the Prime Minister's Security Division (PMSD) to regular police duties, sources from the Police Headquarters say.

Inspector General of Police, Pujith Jayasundera on 30th October has issued a special order to remove the OIC of the Prime Minister's Security Division, Chief Inspector P.N. Guruge and assign him to normal duties in the same division.

The IGP had ordered the appointment of Inspector at Chavakachcheri Police WMSB Wickramasinghe to the OIC post of the PMSD replacinge CI Guruge.

Sources from the police headquarters say that the National Police Commission had not granted the approval for the appointment, according to a report in Lankadeepa.

The National Police Commission has ordered the immediate cancellation of the new appointment to the OIC post at PMSD.

Accordingly, the IGP has issued a special police order cancelling the transfers, a senior official of the Police Headquarters told the Lankadeepa.
