Fri, Nov 2, 2018, 10:22 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 02, Colombo: Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has met with UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees on Thursday.

It has been reported that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa met Ranil Wickremesinghe on latter's request last night to discuss future security measures should the UNP leader decides to leave the premises of Temple Trees.

Meanwhile MP Dr. Harsha de Silva said Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa visited Temple to ask Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe "if there was a way out of the impasse." "The answer was a firm 'No'. He (Wickremesinghe) said the only way has to be a vote in Parliament," he said.

Wickremesinghe, who was dismissed by President Maithripala Sirisena abruptly on last Friday (October 26) plunging the country into a constitutional crisis, has refused to vacate the Prime Minister's official residence Temple Trees.

The UNP leader, who has been stripped of most of his security detail and his vehicles, says he has the support of a majority of the parliament and demands the President to reconvene the parliament.
