Nov 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Marxist Party Jannah Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today said the current 'power hungry government is like a pack of dogs fighting for a bone and emphasized that the party will resort to all possible measures to defeat the 'pack of dogs' and establish a real people-friendly government for the benefit of the citizens.
Speaking at a rally in Nugegoda today (Nov 01) JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said, today the people's representative in parliament is determined not by the people, but by 'black money' floating in the country making them become billionaires.
"A group appointed by the black money is in parliament today. Therefore, if the People's Representative had a certain power, that power has been lost now," Dissanayake said.
The JVP leader affirmed that his party by any means will not allow the state terrorism to take the people as a prey regardless of whether it is Gotabhaya Rajapaksa or any other state apparatus.
"JVP is not a political movement that is about to become a mere spectator in this political drama. We are ready to intervene from today," Dissanayake said inviting people to join them to demand President Maithripala Sirisena to reconvene Parliament immediately and to restore democracy in the country.
