* Two school girls drown in sea in Kalutara

July 22, Colombo: Two 11-year old girls who were among a group of people drowned in the seas off Calido beach, Kalutara, last evening had died at the Nagoda hospital this morning.

Four people who were caught in the underwater currents while bathing in the sea were rescued by life guards at the beach and admitted to the Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara yesterday.

All four people are of the same family and residents of Grandpass. They were bathing at a deep location in the sea off the Calido beach, the police said.

According to the police, the popular beach has been eroded and not safe for bathing.
