* Sri Lankan government confirms two new diplomatic posts

July 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saturday announced the appointment of two new diplomatic posts.

Prof. Arusha Cooray has been appointed as the next Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Norway. She is expected to take up the assignment shortly. Prof. Cooray is an academic specializing in Economics.

Former Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake has been appointed as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. He assumed duties on 20 July 2018. Previously, Mr. Ekanayake has served as a Cabinet Minister, Provincial Chief Minister and a Member of Parliament.

Meanwhile, media reports said former Secretary to the President Austin Fernando has been appointed as the High Commissioner to India. However, there was no official confirmation of the appointment.
