July 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena has reiterated to the visiting Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayut Chan-o-cha that Sri Lanka, signifying the long-standing historic, religious and cultural ties between the two countries, will present a sapling of the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree as a gesture of goodwill to bless the King Maha Vajiralongkorn and people of Thailand.

The Prime Minister of Thailand has graciously welcomed the offer and informed that necessary preparations were underway to ensure that appropriate arrangements are made for the Sacred Gifting Ceremony.
