July 09, Colombo: Popular Sri Lankan singer Priyani Jayasinghe (51) has been found stabbed to death in her home in Panadura, 15 miles south of Colombo, yesterday and her husband is suspected of the attack.

The popular singer was believed to have been severely beaten and stabbed with a pair of scissors, according to the Police.

The police have received an emergency call on the 119 hotline number and a police team attached to Panadura police found the critically injured singer around 8:45 p.m. Sunday night. She was admitted to Kalubovila Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police suspect her husband attacked the singer following a domestic dispute and he is on the run, local media reported.
