Dec 22, Colombo: An Etihad Airways A380 plane with more than 500 people on board has made an emergency landing early this morning in Sri Lanka's international airport in Katunayake after declaring a medical emergency onboard.
The Etihad Airways Flight en route to Sydney from Abu Dhabi has reportedly made a landing in Colombo airport after a passenger experienced a medical emergency.
The fight with 490 passengers and 22 crew safely landed at around 5:30 am local time, the state broadcaster reported.
The sick passenger was rushed to the Katunayake Airport Medical Center and then to the Negombo General Hospital for further medical treatment.
The Etihad Airways flight has left for Sydney at around 7.33 am with all the passengers.
