Dec 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Supreme Court today issued notice to United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake to appear before the court on the 7th December over another contempt of court charge.
MP Ramanayake has been notified to show cause regarding a controversial statement made by the MP on the judiciary.
The order was issued by a bench headed by the Chief Justice following a review of the controversial statement.
The Court has also ordered to issue notice to Attorney General also to appear before the court on the 7th.
Hearing of another contempt of court case against MP Ranjan Ramanayake is scheduled before a three member bench including Chief Justice on the 10th, 11th and 12th of December.
MP Ramanayake is accused of contempt of Court for making serious criticisms against the Courts and the legal profession saying that most of the lawyers and judges in the country are corrupt and were ruining the country.
