* Appellate Court to decide whether to proceed on Quo Warranto petition against Mahinda Rajapaksa

Dec 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Court of Appeal has concluded the consideration of the Writ of Quo Warranto filed by 122 members of Parliament questioning the legitimacy of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in holding the office.

The judges will pronounce the decision whether to grant leave to proceed with the petition or to provide interim relief at 3.00 p.m. today.

Parliamentarians of UNP, JVP and TNA on 23 November filed a Writ of Quo Warranto in the Court of Appeal challenging Mahinda Rajapaksa on continuing to hold the office of Prime Minister after a no confidence motion had been passed in Parliament against him.

The case was taken up for the first time on 30 November and the court postponed the hearing for today.
