* Police security for GCE O/Level exam starting tomorrow

Dec 02, Colombo: The G.C.E Ordinary Level Examination 2018 will commence tomorrow at 4,681 examination centers countrywide, and it will continue until December 12.

It has been decided to provide police protection to all centers where the examination is being held.

Accordingly, police protection will be provided for 4,681 examination centers, 51 Divisional Coordinating Centers, 33 collection centers and two central assembly centers will be provided with special security, Police Department said.

A team of police officers including a sergeant and two police constables will be deployed at the Divisional Coordinating centers and collection centers. Exam centers in each police division will be provided security by a police mobile unit and a foot patrol unit.

Special security will also be given to the vehicles transporting the question and answer papers.

This year 656,641 candidates are taking the examination, out of which 422,850 are school candidates and 233,798 are private candidates.

The Department of Examinations has banned lectures, conferences, workshops and distribution of model papers until the end of the exam. Keeping in possession of posters, banners, leaflets and publishing of related material over electronic and print media are also banned.
