Dec 01, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Leaders of the United National Front (UNF) will meet tomorrow for another round of discussions, General Secretary of the United National Party Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.
The UNF leaders met with the President last evening to find a solution to end the month-long political crisis.
UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam after meeting President Sirisena said they has a "very positive meeting" with the President.
However, ACMC leader MP Rishad Bathiudeen had said that there was no agreement reached during the discussion. "There will be another meeting with President on Sunday," he said.
MP Mano Ganesan tweeted that the UNF leaders meeting with the President ended with "salient progress pending finalization" and another meeting is scheduled for Sunday.
Discussion with President Sirisena virtually came to a halt, when he said he will not reappoint Ranil Wickremesinghe but any other UNF nominee as Prime Minister, MP Ganesan said on Twitter.
He said the UNF team may meet President Sirisena Sunday evening with fresh proposals to break the deadlock.
MP Ganesan said the President indicated his willingness to withdraw the gazetting of dissolution and added that he will not dissolve or prorogue parliament again.
