* Present government completed a large number of development programs -PM

Aug 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the present government has successfully completed a large number of development programs during the past 3 years.

He said the unity government has been able to accomplish more tasks than the previous government achieved during its 9 years tenure.

The Prime Minister made these remarks on Saturday participating in an event held to distribute title deeds to landless families in Pasgoda divisional secretariat in Matara.

The Prime Minister further said 100,000 title deeds will be distributed to the landless families island-wide and it is part of government's plan to empower people by helping them own their own home.

According to the Premier the nationwide housing plan has already benefitted over 260,000 families and the government is on track to deliver on its target of shelter for all by 2025.

Addressing the gathering Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said the government is committed to solve the land problem of the people by giving the rights of a block of land for each needy family.

Under the 'hundred thousand title deeds' program distribution of title deeds to the Kegalle district beneficiaries will be held on Sunday in Kegalle town. At the ceremony today 1500 families will receive land deeds.

In parallel to this, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will also open the Business Desk of the Kegalle District Secretariat.

Distribution of land deeds in the Galle district will be held on Tuesday at the Baddegama public grounds. It is expected to grant title deeds to 4000 needy families in the district.
