* Panel of Experts hands over Draft Constitutional Proposal to PM

Aug 09, Colombo: The ten member Panel of Experts appointed by the Constitutional Assembly has handed over the Draft Constitutional Proposal to the Steering Committee of the Constitutional Assembly chaired by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe when the Steering Committee met on Wednesday (8th August) at the parliamentary complex.

The Draft Constitutional Proposal prepared by the Panel of Experts will be studied by the leaders of political parties representing the parliament and discussed with the Prime Minister who is the chairman of the Steering Committee.

It has been decided to meet with the party leaders promptly and reach consensus on the Draft Constitutional Proposal.

The mandate for preparation of a Draft Constitutional Proposal lies with the Steering Committee of the Constitutional Assembly.
