* CEB engineers suspend trade union action in districts affected by adverse weather

May 23, Colombo: The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Engineers' Association which is engaged in a Work-to-Rule campaign has requested the CEB engineers to suspend their trade union action due to the adverse weather.

The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Association Chairman, Saumya Kumarawadu said that the engineers of 14 districts affected by flooding due to the heavy rains have been informed to suspend the trade union action without delay.

However, the work-to-rule campaign in other districts will continue, he said.

The CEB union is engaged in the trade union action in the past two weeks demanding the power regulator, Public Utility Commission to approve the implementation of the long term Low Cost Power Generation project designed by the CEB.
