* Sri Lanka Army offers fruit drinks to Tamils commemorating war dead in North

May 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army troops serving Vellamullivaikkal areas in Mullaitivu, where the final phase of the war against the Tamil Tigers terrorists took place in 2009 took place, held a 'Dansela' on Friday (18) on behalf of fallen War Heroes and distributed refreshments among all civilians who were commemorating their war dead.

The troops of the 68 division under the instructions of their commanding officer Major General Rasika Fernando organized the Dansela and distributed fruit drinks to the Tamil civilians who were attending memorial events held in the area to commemorate the deaths of their loved ones.

Meanwhile, troops of the 552 Brigade in the 55 Division on the directions of Brigadier Jayantha Gunaratne offered milky refreshments to all those returning to Jaffna in vehicles at Iyyakachchi on Friday (18) after their participation in different memorial events in Vellamullivaikkal and other areas.

The Army organized the Dansalas to invoke merits to the fallen war heroes of the tri services.
