May 18, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will hold a special discussion on the Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement with all stakeholders on the 22nd of this month at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

Secretary to the President Austin Fernando said providing an opportunity for all stakeholders the discussion will be held at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo on Tuesday (22).

He said that representatives of the Government Medical Officers' Association are also invited to attend this special discussion.

The Secretary to the President made this observation in response to a question raised by a journalist at a media conference held at the Government Information Department premises in Narahenpita yesterday (17th).

The state doctors' union yesterday launched a token strike to protest the signing of FTA with Singapore and proceeding Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) with India without a National Trade Policy.

Since representatives of all parties relevant to the Sri Lanka-Singapore FTA are expected to meet, a decision on how to proceed with the trade agreement can be taken at the meeting, the President's Secretary said.
