May 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka's national carrier, SriLankan Airlines today requested all passengers to arrive at least three hours before the scheduled flight due to the delays resulting from the trade union action taken by the immigration officers.
"SriLankan Airlines wish to inform all passengers, to arrive at the airport three hours prior to the departure time effective today, 17th May 2018, 12.00pm onwards until further notice," the airline said in a release.
"This is to minimize delays that may arise due to 'work to rule' trade union action carried out by the Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration Officer's Association."
The Sri Lanka Immigration & Emigration Officers' Association said it will launch a work-to-rule campaign from midnight Thursday (17) over the failure by authorities to resolve several pressing demands.
The trade union will affect travel at all airports and seaports in the country, the association said in a press release.
