* Kerosene subsidy has been provided to 74,843 persons - Minister

May 16, Colombo: Co-Cabinet Spokesman, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says the government has provided the Kerosene subsidy to 74,843 persons.

At the cabinet briefing today, the Minister said 47,555 Samurdhi beneficiaries and estate sector people who do not have electricity have been provided with the kerosene subsidy.

In addition, 27,288 persons engaged in fisheries activities have been given this fuel subsidy, he pointed out.

The Minister said the kerosene subsidy, which will be effective from May 10th, will be paid directly to the recipients' bank accounts from 1st June.

He pointed out that the current price of fuel is still lower than the prices in 2014.
