Sun, May 6, 2018, 10:30 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the present government is dedicated to developing the country through rapid industrialization throughout the country without being restricted only to an industrial zone.

Speaking at an event held recently to declare open a two storied building with a new auditorium for Millaniya Divisional Secretariat, the Prime Minister said Millaniya can be identified as a center in the rapid industrialization process under the government.

He said the government is now engaged in the task of land acquisition and the construction of the road network and they will soon fulfill the obligation to pay compensation to the people for the land.

The Premier said the government is now finalizing the agreements with Thai Rochana Company and soon after completion of the agreements the work on the industrial zone will begin in June or July this year.

He said it is not a difficult task to set up 100 factories on an extent spanning 450 acres of this industrial zone and around 50 large factories can be opened,

"We will be able to achieve the results of these industrial zones within the next 10 years," the Premier said.

"These companies want to earn their profits as soon as possible. To get a profit, they need to get more and more companies. Accordingly, this area will be filled up in factories," Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said adding that the industrialization will result in the urbanization.
