* No-confidence motion against PM is a dud - Minister Rajitha

Mar 25, Colombo: Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says that the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is a futile exercise and the government has the ability to defeat it.

Health Minister made this statement participating in a walk organized by the National Programme for Tuberculosis Control & Chest Diseases of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to mark the World Tuberculosis Day on Saturday.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne, Secretary to the Health Ministry Janaka Sugathadas, Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe, staff of health services and representatives of non-governmental organizations took part in the Walk which commenced yesterday (24) morning from Independence Square in Colombo to the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.

Speaking at the event the Minister said the government will gather all forces to defeat the no confidence motion brought against the Prime Minister by the Joint Opposition.

"We will defeat this motion and the government will stay until 2020," the Minister asserted.

Extending birthday wishes to the Prime Minister, who turned 69 today, Minister Senaratne said "I believe that he will remain in the post of Prime Minister and serve the people another time."

Speaking of the disease, the Minister said the world has focused on controlling tuberculosis and the World Health Organization has launched many programs for the goal

The Ministry of Health has launched a series of programs raising awareness in people to eradicate TB in Sri Lanka, the Minister said.
