* PC Councilor, wife remanded for assault on bus driver

Mar 10, Colombo: Southern Provincial Councilor M.K. Kasun and his wife Tharaka Perera arrested for assaulting a private bus driver at Koswatte yesterday (09) were remanded till 13, by the Kaduwela Magistrate today (10).

They were arrested by the Thalangama Police yesterday, after the couple assaulted the bus driver who was driving a Route 177 bus between Kaduwela and Kollupitiya.

The couple reportedly assaulted the driver for blocking the way of their vehicle at the Koswatta Junction.

The incident was recorded on a mobile phone and the video circulating in social media shows the woman brandishing a firearm kicking the bus driver on the ground.

The Police have arrested the couple with a 9mm pistol and five live bullets in their possession.

Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by Thalangama Police.
