* Police curfew re-imposed in the Kandy administrative district, three police teams dispatched to Kandy

Mar 07, Colombo: The Police curfew has been re-imposed in the Kandy administrative district with immediate effect until further notice, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

The police curfew was in effect in the Kandy area from 8 pm Tuesday night and lifted at 6 am today. However, senior police officers have decided to re-impose the curfew after it was lifted.

During the curfew, the police and the tri-forces have been authorized to arrest all who gather in groups.

Meanwhile, three special police teams each comprising three DIGs and three SPs had dispatched to the Kandy area on the instruction of IGP Pujith Jayasundara, Police said.
