* Permits to import duty free vehicles to government officers once in 5 years

June 11, Colombo: The relevant regulations of granting vehicle import permits on concessionary terms to senior state officials have been revised from the 8th of June.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to grant the duty free permits to the government officials in every 5 years now instead of the current system of granting duty free permits every 10 years, the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media informed in a circular.

In addition, the circular issued by the Ministry states that whatever the value of the motor vehicle or the engine capacity, the tax relief applies to only Rs 3.6 million.
