* Police arrest man transporting 8 kg of Kerala Cannabis in public bus

June 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested a man transporting two packages of Kerala Cannabis (Ganja) in a public bus plying to Colombo from the North.

On the information received that Kerala Cannabis is being transported in a SLTB bus plying to Colombo, the officers of the Puliyankulam Police have stopped the bus near the Puliyankulam police station and inspected the bus where they found the stock of cannabis.

The police said that over 8 kilograms of Kerala ganja, which were found carefully packed in two bags, were seized at the scene.

The 51 year old suspect identified as Hettiarachchige Wasantha Gamini is a resident of Kataragama.

The suspect is to be produced before Vavuniya Magistrate Court today.

Puliyankulam Police are conducting further investigations.
