* State Minister Palitha Range Bandara's son remanded until June 12

June 08, Colombo: Yashoda Range Bandara, the 25-year-old son of State Minister Palitha Range Bandara, who was arrested by the Police for driving under the influence of liquor and misuse of public property, was remanded until 12 June.

Yashoda Range Bandara, media secretary of the Ministry Irrigation and Water Resources Management crashed a ministry vehicle he was driving on Wednesday (06).

The vehicle No. WPPH-0147 is one of vehicles belonging to the Ministry, Irrigation and Water Resources Management Ministry Secretary JM Kapila Jayasekara said in a statement to the Arachchikattuwa Police today. The police said the Chilaw magistrate's Court will be informed of the facts.

Yashoda Range Bandara lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road ramming into a house at Kottapitiya in Chilaw in the wee hours of Wednesday (06). He and his passenger Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Anjana Sandaruwan suffered injuries.

Arachchikattuwa Police arrested Yashoda while he was receiving treatment at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.

Subsequently, he was remanded until June 12th when he was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today.
