June 08, Colombo: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SriLankan Airlines, Captain Suren Ratwatte, has decided to take an early retirement.

The national carrier announced that the CEO had decided to retire early in order to facilitate the restructuring process of the airline.

The announcement comes days after the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate financial irregularities taken place at SriLankan airlines and Mihin Lanka Airlines commenced recording of evidence.

The airline yesterday said Suren Ratwatte has handed over the letter of resignation to the chairman of the airline Ranjith Fernando.

Captain Suren Ratwatte assumed duties as the Chief Executive Officer of the national carrier on 15 October 2015.
