* JVP MP Sunil Handunneththi COPE chairman again

June 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) parliamentarian Sunil Handunneththi has been appointed as chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) again in the new parliamentary session.

It has been recommended to reappoint the previous COPE committee when the 8th parliament commenced its second session on 08th May.

However, MP Jayantha Samaraweera has been appointed instead of MP Weerakumara Dissanayake, who was a former COPE member.

The COPE committee comprising 26 MPs met today for the first time in the second session of parliament.

Meanwhile, MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna has been reappointed chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA).
