* Railway trade unions ready for an indefinite strike from 12th
Wed, Jun 6, 2018, 10:06 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 06, Colombo: The Railway Technical Service Trade Union Committee says they are ready to launch an indefinite railway strike from the 12th of this month since the authorities have not taken any measures to resolve their issues.

The union demanded the authorities to give them a written plan of action describing the measures that would be taken to resolve the salary anomalies issue within the day Monday (June 04). The union said it will launch an indefinite strike within a week if they do not receive any guarantees from the authorities.

The Railway Technical Services Trade Union Committee launched a 48-hour token strike on May 29 based on three demands including a 12.1 percent salary increment.
