June 05, Colombo: An agreement on establishing an Information and Research Center on Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown origin (CKDu), at the University of Kelaniya was signed before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat, today (05).

Project Director of Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases Asela Iddawela and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya Professor D. M. Semasinghe signed the agreement.

The promotion of research conducted by the University of Kelaniya on Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown origin to all other districts, carrying out multipurpose research to determine the main causes for the CKDu, exchange the research information with other local and foreign stakeholders and providing of recommendation to implement policies and plans to prevent Kidney Diseases are among the objectives of establishing this center.
