* Sri Lanka condemns attack on Kabul Intercontinental Hotel

Jan 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka today in strong terms condemned the attack on the Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel restaurant on Saturday that killed 18 people and injured another 10 people and reiterated its stance against all forms of terrorism.

"Sri Lanka condemns in the strongest terms, the heinous attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul and reiterates its resolve to stand firmly with the international community against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Twitter.

According to BBC, fourteen foreigners are confirmed to have died, along with four Afghans when gunmen burst into the six-floor hotel at around 9 pm local time on Saturday as guests were enjoying dinner.

Three attackers were also killed in the siege, officials said. Ten people, including four civilians, were injured.

Afghan troops fought throughout the night to regain control of the building and rescued some 160 people.
