* Indian national arrested at Sri Lanka's Colombo airport with methamphetamine

Jan 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) unit at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Thursday (11) arrested an Indian national attempting to smuggle methamphetamine, also known as 'crystal meth' or 'ice', a dangerous drug popular in European countries.

The PNB officers on suspicion inspected the luggage of the passenger arrived from India and found 220 g Methamphetamine hidden in a false bottom of the bag. The stock of drug is valued at Rs. 6 million.

The 50-year-old suspect, who reportedly runs a small shop in the state of Tamil Nadu, arrived onboard a SriLankan flight at 9.45 pm last night. He was arrested at the arrival lounge of the airport.

The arrested Indian national will be produced at the Minuwangoda Magistrate's Court today (12).
