Thu, Jan 11, 2018, 01:17 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 11, Colombo: Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that creating a strong investment market could eradicate unemployment in this country.

The Premier made this comment while visiting the Trinity Steel (Pvt) Ltd factory at the Katunayake export processing zone yesterday.

"Our objective is to provide avenues to increase open foreign exchange and competition as well as increasing our foreign exchange earnings and employment opportunities," the Premier said.

He said during the past two years efforts were taken to provide the infrastructure, reduce debt burden and stabilize the economy. "Now we have the ability and strength to go forward," he added.

Trinity Steel was first launched in 2015 as a BOI company in the Katunayake export processing zone and commenced operations last year. Within three years, the company has completed all of its construction and installed new technical equipment.

The company with state-of-the-art technology manufactures specialized steel products used for auto parts. In addition to using for local uses, the products are exported to the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, South Korea and a few other countries. Management of Trinity Steels says the operations will be expanded further.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Trinity Steel Chairman Tilak De Zoysa and Managing Director Arun Mirando during the visit.
